Recognition for customer service, technical standards, and safety excellence across a growing UK network
Protyre Colchester has secured the top spot in the UK’s Pirelli Performance Centre (PPC) network, earning the 2024 title after excelling in service quality, technical capability, and customer experience. The award positions the Essex-based centre as the leading performer among more than 150 PPC locations across the UK — including 65 operated by the Protyre Autocare network.
The PPC accreditation process involves a twice-yearly 130-point technical audit, overseen by Pirelli, ensuring participating centres uphold industry-leading standards in service, tyre fitting accuracy, and vehicle safety.
In addition to regular audits, the PPC of the Year award incorporates independent mystery shopper video assessments to identify centres delivering consistent excellence across both technical and customer service metrics.
Protyre Colchester stood out with top evaluations in:▪ Technical proficiency
▪ End-to-end customer experience
▪ Overall service quality and consistency
Steve Brown, Centre Manager at Protyre Colchester, welcomed the award as a reflection of the team's ongoing efforts:
“This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. We are committed to delivering the highest level of service.”
James Godley, Retail Operations Director at Protyre Autocare, noted that Colchester’s success highlights the growing strength of the Protyre-operated PPCs, which now make up over 40% of the UK total.
Pirelli UK’s Commercial Director, Jason Sugden, added that Protyre Colchester demonstrated standout expertise across all evaluation categories.
While focused on service delivery, the Pirelli Performance Centre programme reflects a broader shift toward measurable quality standards and brand-aligned excellence in the retail tyre sector. As tyre technology becomes more specialised — especially with growing EV tyre requirements — centres like Protyre Colchester play a critical role in bridging technical know-how with real-world customer needs. The PPC model also supports a higher level of consumer trust and tyre safety, both key to future industry competitiveness.
